    Frequently Asked Questions

We have four nationwide training centres in the UK. All of the core theoretical teaching takes place in Leicester; live-patient surgery modules can be done at locations in Leeds, London or Sandbach. You’ll be assigned a mentor based on your location. Our delegates come from across the UK, from as far north as the Scottish borders down to the south coast.

Not at all. Our Certificate in Implant Dentistry (EduQual Level 7) is specifically designed for clinicians who may have little or no implant experience. We teach holistic treatment planning—not just implants—covering case selection, occlusion, and broader surgical skills. Early surgical experience builds confidence and sets the stage for a wider dental career.

No. The Certificate in Implant Dentistry (EduQual Level 7) is structured to support delegates with minimal surgical exposure. You’ll be guided through flap design, instrument handling and suturing. The first three days focus on surgical planning and practicals using models; your live-patient cases will be mentored step-by-step by our tutors.

Yes — very much so. Both the Certificate and Diploma programmes focus on hands-on training. The planning modules include practical exercises, CBCT treatment-planning, model work, and then you move into live-patient surgery and restoration under guided supervision.

We strongly encourage you to bring your own patients if possible. This enriches your learning experience by allowing you to plan, treat and restore cases from your own clinic. We can assist with finding patients, but the most valuable learning comes when you manage your own case-flow under mentorship.

For the Certificate in Implant Dentistry (EduQual Level 7) you will complete a minimum of five live-patient cases from start to finish. There is no additional mentoring fee if you take longer to find appropriate cases. Many delegates complete more than five.

The Certificate is geared towards standard implant placements; some basic bone-augmentation or sinus-lift cases may be included where appropriate. If your goal is to train specifically on complex cases (advanced grafting, sinus surgery, full-arch rehabilitation) then our Diploma in Implant Dentistry (EduQual Level 7) is the more suitable route.

Our programmes are endorsed and awarded by EduQual at Level 7, which corresponds to postgraduate academic level and aligns broadly with the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at level 7. While the Certificate leads on from foundational implant training, completion of both the Certificate and the Diploma provides eligibility for academic credit towards an MSc (details of which are currently being finalised with a UK university).

The course fee covers all educational materials, refreshments, practical models, drapes, instruments and components for hands-on training. Patients pay separately for their treatment (CBCT, surgical guide, implant, restorative components). There are no additional costs to delegates beyond the course fee.

Patient fees vary depending on number of implants and specific procedures. Typically the fee includes CBCT scan, surgical guide, implants, consumables and restoration. A full patient fee-structure is provided at the start of the course.

We currently use the Sweden & Martina system for our hands-on modules. However, we teach universal implantology protocols and principles which apply to any system. Our faculty have over 100 years of combined surgical experience across systems such as Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Biomet 3i, Ankylos and more.

The Certificate in Implant Dentistry (EduQual Level 7) is delivered over 12 modules across 12 months. If additional live-patient days are required (e.g., if you bring more than five cases), we will extend your access at no extra cost. The programme counts towards 72 hours of verifiable CPD.

Yes — the Certificate in Implant Dentistry (EduQual Level 7) counts for 72 hours of verifiable eCPD.

You’ll need a laptop for CBCT planning and surgical scrubs for live-patient days. All surgical drapes, implant kits, instruments and restorative components will be provided by the course team.

Yes — you must be a registered dentist with the GDC to treat live-patient cases in the UK. If you are coming from outside the UK, you may attend the theoretical/practical elements but live-patient treatment hours and awarding of full qualification will depend on your professional registration status in your country.

Yes — you will be placing and restoring implants under mentor supervision, so you should inform your indemnity provider about your involvement in implant dentistry training.
